ABOUT

ERICA

As a child in Rochester, NY, I turned asphalt streets into atmosphere and my tricycle into a space shuttle. My imagination took me to the moon —and it never really brought me back. That early fascination with “what if” led me to study psychology at the University of Rochester, where I became fascinated with understanding human behavior: the patterns we fall into, the blind spots we develop, and the stories we tell ourselves that shape the lives we lead.

After working in public policy in Washington, DC, I was introduced to an unexpected opportunity by Edie Weiner (who would later become my mother-in-law): becoming a futurist.

"A what now? A futurist?" I remember thinking, intrigued and slightly bewildered.

But it clicked. My ability to spot patterns, connect disparate ideas, and imagine how different futures might unfold suddenly had a name — and a purpose. I dove into science fiction, scenario planning, and trend analysis, honing my craft of making sense of what’s next.

Today, I’ve delivered over 300 keynotes across six continents, authored AI + The New Human Frontier, and been featured in Wired, Bloomberg, and The Wall Street Journal. But what drives my work isn’t just predicting the future — it's helping leaders navigate it with confidence, curiosity, and humanity intact.

Yes, we face unprecedented challenges. But my work is rooted in optimism: the belief that we can harness imagination and action to create futures worth living in. Not just for us, but for the generations to come.

Who I am + Why I do This Work

When I’m not on stage or thinking about what’s next, I’m usually exploring hiking trails with my son, planning our next family travel adventure, or working alongside my husband, who’s also my business partner — which means dinner conversations can sometimes be quite interesting!

Being a mom to an elementary schooler makes this work deeply personal. Every conversation about AI, every framework for navigating disruption, every keynote about the future — it’s all connected to the world he’s growing up in. I’m not just helping leaders prepare for what’s next. I'm helping shape the future my son will inherit. That’s what keeps me grounded, hopeful, and committed to this work.
